Mater Christi Lifestyles Team has introduced residents to VR (Virtual Reality) headsets. VR headsets are machines designed to replace our surroundings with something created in software. Mater Christi residents have been able to see underwater in the great barrier reef, take a tour of a shearer’s shed and take virtual tours of different countries and cities. There is also a relaxation simulation with dolphins and calming images to help soothe and reduce agitation.
Mater Christi currently has five headsets and has monthly VR interactions in the community room as well as one on one interactions with residents in their rooms.
