ADON Update 22.09.20 Mater Christi

Dear Residents, families and Friends,

As you would all be aware the number of COVID-19 cases in NSW and VIC have decreased significantly over the past couple of weeks which is positive news. Given the uncertainty, at this stage visiting arrangements to the facility will remain unchanged and outings remain suspended unless a resident is attending an urgent or essential medical appointment that is not able to be facilitated onsite. These medical outings are coordinated with the acting Director or Deputy Director of Nursing and require completion of a risk assessment.

The following restrictions remain in place:

  • anyone who has or has been in close contact with anyone who has travelled from Victoria, Greater Sydney or to any known ‘hotpots’ in QLD in the past 14 days will not be permitted to enter the facility until further notice;

  • all visitors are required to wear a face mask. Reception staff will demonstrate the correct use of the masks. We ask that masks remain on for the entire duration of the visit and can be removed on exit at the mask disposal bin;

  • Planned outings for essential appointments are permitted, subject to prior notice and upon “risk assessment“ approved by the acting Director of Nursing;

  • Visitors outside the Coffs Harbour Region will be restricted to a 30 minute visit;

  • Children of all ages are now permitted to enter Mater Christi, subject to conditions of entry being met, including evidence of current flu vaccination and screening for recent illness or potential exposure to the virus and while still adhering to the restrictions on the number of visitors;

  • Each resident may have up to two visitors at one time, subject to conditions of entry being met, including evidence of current flu vaccination and screening for recent illness or any potential exposure to the virus;

  • all visitors must be screened at reception, this includes outdoor visits and anyone that will be meeting residents at the Café;

  • One point of entry, anyone who is entering the facility must present to reception for registration and screening;

  • Bookings are essential. Visiting hours are 7 days per week, between 10:00am and 4:30pm, excluding lunch break from 12:00pm – 1:00pm. Please call reception to make a booking on 02 66586133;

  • Authorised visits will be conducted in a resident’s room, outdoors, or in a specific area agreed by our staff, rather than communal areas where the risk of transmission to other residents is greater;

  • Maintain hand hygiene and physical distancing (1.5 metres);

For more information please visit https://www.health.gov.au or call Mater Christi reception on (02) 6658 6133.

Kind regards

Mercy Kurinyepa

Acting Director of Nursing
